Erik ten Hag has been sacked as Manchester United manager following their 2-1 Premier League defeat to West Ham United, the Red Devils have confirmed. The Dutchman left his post a little over two years after joining from Ajax as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent successor, winning one EFL Cup and one FA Cup during his time at Old Trafford.
Man Utd’s new owners INEOS had backed The 54-year-old former Ajax boss in the summer with a contract extension until June 2026 but he leaves with the club lying 14th in the Premier League; United came eighth last season – their worst top-flight position since 1990 – but won the FA Cup.
However, with Man United showing no serious signs of progression on the pitch after another summer of significant investment, the Red Devils have finally wielded the axe and removed Ten Hag from his post.
