AFC Bournemouth handed Arsenal their first ever defeat of the season after they beat Mikel Arteta’s men 2-0 at Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening.
Arsenal were undone by some uncharacteristic mistakes today and miss the chance to go top. Sloppy passes from Trossard and Kiwior cost them in the end.
Arsenal’s troubles began when William Saliba received a red card for denying a clear goalscoring chance, following a misjudged pass from Leandro Trossard that left him in a tough spot. The Gunners, down to ten men, struggled to regain control of the match.
Bournemouth capitalized on their advantage with a well-executed set-piece, allowing Ryan Christie to smash home the opening goal. Moments later, Justin Kluivert doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Jakub Kiwior’s weak back pass forced David Raya to foul Evanilson in the box.
They have now conceded two or more goals in three of their last four games, having done so just twice in their previous 22 outings.
Arsenal miss the chance to go top, giving Liverpool and Man City the chance to create a bit of distance between them tomorrow.
