Arsenal bounced back after conceding a goal from winless Southampton to win 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium with a late winning goal from Bukayo Saka. Southampton were much improved compared to their 3-1 loss against Bournemouth on Monday. Saka’s creativity and speed helped Arsenal, having created two chances and scoring the third goal in an electric individual display.

After a dull first half, the visiting Saints, who came into the game in 19th place in the league with a single point to their name, took a surprising lead through Cameron Archer in the 55th minute as Arsenal were caught flat-footed by a rare counter-attack. With Southampton struggling through Arsenal’s press, coach Mikel Arteta rang the changes up front and it did not take long before his side took the lead.

Their lead was deemed in a short period of time after Kai Havertz equalised in less than four minutes, making him the first Gunner to score in seven consecutive home games in all competitions since Robin van Persie.

All that was missing from Saka’s brilliant performance was a goal of his own. He already had two assists in the match and he closed the match by scoring his goal at the 88th minute putting individual display with a left right-foot finish to put the game out of reach.
