Tottenham versus Manchester City is one of the most exciting fixtures in the football calendar, and the two go head to head in the Carabao Cup Round of 16.

Spurs and Man City have produced some classics over the years, though results haven’t fallen in Spurs’ favour in recent times, with Ange Postecoglou’s side winless in their last three meetings across all competitions. City put an end to their torrid record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season, but the Lilywhites will be looking to get back to winning ways and book their spot in the next round of the Carabao Cup later tonight.

Team news

Tottenham are expected to be without the service of Son Heung-min. The South Korean missed matches against AZ Alkmaar and Crystal Palace over the past week owing to a thigh injury. Mikey Moore, the 17 year-old from academy was given a full premier league debut at Selhurst  park on Sunday. Mikey Moore could be in line for another starting berth on Wednesday night against Manchester City.

Earning game time in the previous round versus Watford, 16-year-old Kaden Braithwaite and Nico O’Reilly could be in line for spots in the XI once again. First-team stars such as Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker are still sidelined due to injuries. Man City also have a pair of long-term absentees, with Oscar Bobb sidelined until the New Year, whilst Rodri will not play again this season following a cruciate ligament injury.

Probable lineups

Tottenham: Forster; Gray, Dragusin, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Bentancur, Maddison; Werner, Johnson, Richarlison

Manchester City: Ortega; Lewis, Stones, Braithwaite, Ake; O’Reilly; Savio, McAtee, Gundogan, Nunes; Foden

Prediction

Bet on Manchester City to win or draw (x2)

With Manchester City set to include a number of academy players in their squad, Tottenham will sense the opportunity to book their spot in the quarter-finals on Wednesday night. That being said, a Guardiola side littered with first-team stars should still be more than a match for the Lilywhites, who we expect to exit the EFL Cup following a narrow defeat in North London.
