Spanish club Atletico Madrid is set to sign striker Julian Alvarez from Manchester City for £82 million.
The two clubs have agreed on a fee, which represents a substantial profit on the £14 million City paid for Alvarez in January 2022. This deal could also influence Chelsea’s pursuit of Atletico striker Samu Omorodion.
Negotiations between the clubs have been going smoothly over the past 24 hours. Atletico will pay £64 million (€75 million) upfront, with the rest of the fee coming in add-ons. This will be a record sale for Manchester City.
The Argentine international won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup titles, all in 2023. While at City, he also helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup and the Copa America earlier this year.
