Aberdeen have set a new club-record transfer fee with the sale of Bojan Miovski to Girona for £6.8 million, surpassing the £6.5 million they received for Calvin Ramsay’s move to Liverpool in 2022. Miovski, who joined Aberdeen from MTK Budapest in 2022 for around £600,000, made a significant impact by scoring 44 goals in 97 appearances. The North Macedonian striker has signed a contract with Girona until 2028, and the Spanish club will compete in the Champions League this season after finishing third in LaLiga behind Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Aberdeen’s chief executive, Alan Burrows, praised Miovski’s contribution to the club, acknowledging that while they are sad to see him go, they are thrilled he has earned such an exciting move. Burrows highlighted that the transfer is part of the club’s player trading strategy, which has been driven by Dave Cormack and the board. This approach allows Aberdeen to reinvest the proceeds from player sales back into the football department, supporting wages and transfer fees.
With a strong focus on developing talent through their academy and smart recruitment from around the world, Aberdeen aims to continue building on their success. Under new manager Jimmy Thelin, the team has already added six players during this transfer window and is actively working on further strengthening the squad before the window closes.
