  • Arsenal drop more points as Rice goal only rescues a draw at the Old Trafford

Arsenal drop more points as Rice goal only rescues a draw at the Old Trafford

Declan Rice was the hero for Arsenal as he helped them secure a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Rice not only scored the equaliser but also made a crucial tackle to deny Rasmus Hojlund a late winner.

United had taken the lead through Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick, which was controversial because the Arsenal wall was set back further than usual. That goal came from United’s first shot on target, and they had more chances, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya made key saves to keep them in the game.

Arsenal struggled to create clear chances, giving United hope of securing back-to-back league wins. However, with 16 minutes left, Rice fired in a well-placed shot from Jurrien Timber’s pass to level the score.
Just moments later, he made a last-ditch tackle to stop Hojlund, who was close to ending his long goal drought. Gabriel also made an important block to deny another chance for Hojlund, while Gabriel Martinelli missed a late opportunity but was saved by the offside flag. Raya then pulled off a brilliant double save to ensure Arsenal earned a point.

The result doesn’t do much for either team in the Premier League standings. Arsenal are now 15 points behind leaders Liverpool, who only need 16 more points from nine games to secure the title.

United, meanwhile, remain in 14th place. The match had been seen as having little impact on the league campaign, but the performance could still give United confidence ahead of their important Europa League match against Real Sociedad on Thursday.

United fans, who protested against the club’s ownership throughout the game, still applauded their team at full-time. The draw may not have been the result they wanted, but it showed promise under manager Ruben Amorim. The focus will now be on their European clash, where they will hope to build on this performance.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted frustration after the game, saying his team dominated but lacked quality in attack. He pointed out that Arsenal should have taken advantage of their first-half control and that their finishing in the final third was not good enough.
Arteta also acknowledged that goalkeeper Raya made important saves to prevent a loss, but he stressed that his team must be more clinical in such dominant displays.

  • Arsenal injury updates as they face PSV in the UEFA Champions League

Arsenal injury updates as they face PSV in the UEFA Champions League

Arsenal are preparing for a crucial Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven in the round of 16, but they will be without several key attacking players.

Mikel Arteta’s side are also struggling in the Premier League, sitting 13 points behind Liverpool after a disappointing 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest. While their title hopes are fading, the Gunners remain focused on progressing in Europe.

Bukayo Saka is still recovering from hamstring surgery he had in December and is not expected back until April. Although he was seen training in the gym during Arsenal’s trip to Dubai, Arteta has confirmed he won’t return before the March international break, meaning he will miss both legs against PSV.

Gabriel Martinelli also suffered a hamstring injury in January and is expected to return sooner than Saka, though he remains a few weeks away from action. Arteta has suggested Martinelli has a chance to return before his teammate, but his exact recovery timeline is uncertain.

Kai Havertz is out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury he picked up in Dubai. He shared an update on Instagram, saying his operation was successful and that he will now focus on his recovery while supporting the team.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus is also sidelined for a long period after having knee surgery in January.

Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu will miss the remainder of the season after struggling with a serious knee injury. The Japan international has barely played this season due to ongoing fitness issues. He recently shared that he has undergone surgery and is determined to fight through this difficult period in his career.

5th January: Liverpool vs Manchester United Prediction, Stats, Possible line-ups & Team news

Manchester United are moving from one crisis to another, last time they won a match was against Manchester City and so far they lost 4 matches in  a row. United will be visiting the Reds at Anfield this Sunday for a Premier League clash.

Manchester United fans were full of hopes after Reuben Amorim was named as Erik Ten Hag’s successor but things turned down. Amorim is now struggling with the Red Devils players to adapt 3-4-3 system.

Arne Slot’s men punished West Ham United 5-0 last Sunday, sending them to the top of the Premier League table with 45 points, 6 points behind Arsenal. Since Liverpool lost to Nottingham Forest at the mid- September they have not faced another defeat at Anfield.

Liverpool cruised to a 3-0 win at Old Trafford earlier this season and will be desperate to pile on the misery for Amorim and his players.

    Team News

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez picked up a hamstring injury against West Ham and is unlikely to play against Manchester United. Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley haven’t played since November, so they may not be ready to start.

Manchester United will welcome back Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte, who missed the Newcastle game due to suspension. However, Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof, and Luke Shaw are still out with injuries.

    Possible Line-ups:

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Salah, Diaz, Gakpo

Manchester United: Onana, Yoro, Maguire, Martinez, Mazraoui, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dalot, Diallo, Fernandes, Højlund

    1X2 Prediction;

Manchester United are struggling to adapt to Amorim’s system, with a weak attack and shaky defense leaving them vulnerable ahead of their trip to Anfield. While the returns of Ugarte, Mainoo, and Fernandes should lead to a better performance than their poor showing against Newcastle, fans have little reason for confidence. Liverpool could easily dominate and repeat their 3-0 win from Old Trafford, boosting their title hopes while pushing United closer to relegation.

We say Liverpool 3:0 Manchester United

4th January: Brighton vs Arsenal Prediction, Stats, Possible line-ups & Team news

Arsenal will be looking to keep pressure on Liverpool who are at the top of the table when they play against Brighton this coming Saturday.

In the midweek the Gunners made it four wins in all Competitions and three wins in the Premier League. Arteta’s men might make three points difference ahead of Liverpool who play against Manchester United on Sunday at the Anfield. Currently the Reds are six points ahead of Arsenal.

Brighton are in a struggling form of late, without any win in the last seven matches with fives and two defeats. The last match that Brighton played was against Aston Villa and it ended in a 2-2 draw.

Ahead of their win against Brentford, Arsenal were handed a blow as Kai Havertz missed out entirely due to illness while Declan Rice started from the bench after he was allowed to rest due to a knock he suffered.

The Gunner will also be without Jurren Timber serving his one match ban due accumulation of yellow cards. Gabriel Martinelli and Jesus are likely to take the lead at the front line after they were in the scoresheet against Brentford.

Brighton come into this match without the service of several key players like Pervis Estupinan sidelined with an illness, while Jack Hinshelwood (knee) is on the verge of his own return, but Danny Welbeck (ankle), Mats Wieffer (leg), Evan Ferguson (ankle), James Milner (hamstring) and Ferdi Kadioglu (toe) will not be available.

    Possible line-ups:

Brighton: Verbruggen; Lamptey, Dunk, Van Hecke, Estupinan; Baleba, O’Riley; Adingra, Rutter, Mitoma; Pedro

Arsenal: Raya; Partey, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Rice, Merino; Martinelli, Jesus, Trossard

    1X2 Prediction:

Brighton had both scored and conceded in six successive Premier League home games before their goalless affair with Brentford on December 27, and the goals ought to flow once again versus an Arsenal side who have struggled for clean sheets on the road of late.

    We say: Brighton 1:3 Arsenal

In their previous encounters, there have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Brighton’s last 6 matches against Arsenal in the Premier League.

  • West Ham vs Arsenal highlights as Saka, Odegaard & Gabriel dominate a big win

West Ham vs Arsenal highlights as Saka, Odegaard & Gabriel dominate a big win

Arsenal claimed an early 5-2 win in the first-half. The London Stadium against West Ham. Seven goals were scored from seven different goal scorers from both sides in 45 minutes.  Mikel’s Arteta men had a clever start with Gabriel scoring a header in the 10th minute to put Arsenal at the lead.

West Ham were abject for most of the opening period and their static defence were carved apart by a delicious Martin Odegaard pass and the recalled Leandro Trossard tapped home Bukayo Saka’s cross. Bukayo Saka was brought down in the penalty area by Lucas Paqueta, which led Odegaard to score his first goal of the season. It did not take long for Leandro Trossard to give Kai Havertz a long past which went past Max Kilman and Kai converted it to a goal.

West Ham were sinking without trace until Aaron Wan-Bisska scored his second goal of the season in a matter of a week and  full-back Emerson fired a free kick to give West Ham a second goal. Saka then restored a three-goal advantage from the penalty spot after Lukasz Fabianski caught Gabriel in the face from a corner.

West Ham stay down in 14th after a sixth top-flight defeat of the season while Arsenal are six points behind leaders Liverpool, who host champions Manchester City at Anfield tomorrow.

Injury News: Arsenal injury updates as they visit West Ham

A busy premier league week begins this weekend as Arsenal visits West Ham at the London stadium. The Gunners play three times in the pace of eight days as the festive schedule heats up. After the Gunners short trip to the London stadium they will welcome Manchester United at the Emirates on Wednesday night then travel to Fulham next Sunday.

The trip to the London stadium comes at a difficult time for Arsenal as they will miss three players in his squad. Gabriel Magalheas picked up a knock during their 5-1 win against Sporting on Tuesday and he was taken off five minutes of normal time to play. Arteta confirmed the Brazilian had some dis-comfort and they will have to wait and see if he will be available or not.

Ben White is out for a number of months with a knee injury while Takehiro Tomiyasu is not set to return anytime soon. Jakub Kiwior is the main Contender to replace Gabriel Magalheas in the heart of Arsenal defense alongside William Saliba.

Arteta did not expand on any other identities of the Arsenal players unable to train at London Colney on Thursday, with defenders Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu their only confirmed injury absentees at present after Kieran Tierney returned to the matchday squad in Lisbon after five months out with a hamstring problem.

  • Thomas Partey Brilliant performance in Arsenal 1:5 Win against Sporting Lisbon

Thomas Partey Brilliant performance in Arsenal 1:5 Win against Sporting Lisbon

Arsenal delivered a dominant display on Tuesday night as from Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Magalhaes put them three in front by half time. Gonçalo Inacio pulled a goal back for Sporting shortly after the break but Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard struck to seal Arsenal’s win.

Thomas Partey registered a massive performance at the heart of Arsenal’s midfield and Arteta has backed up  the 31-year-old to be a ‘massive player’ for his side this season.

After his efforts against Nottingham Forest at the weekend, the midfielder picked up where he left off in Lisbon, with his progressive passing a feature, not to mention his ability to help control the middle of the park and his delightful dink to spring Bukayo Saka free to tee up Kai Havertz’s goal to double Arsenal’s lead.

Arteta was also confident of seeing more from his Arsenal squad with players now returning from injury. With a fully fit Partey, we have seen what a difference it can make to the whole dynamic of Arteta’s team, and that was on display in Lisbon, with Thomas controlling things and allowing others to go about their business.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola spoke with BBC Radio after the match. “At this moment, we are fragile defensively. We started really well as normal but we could not score and then, after that, we conceded. After that, we conceded some more, which is difficult for our emotions right now.

The visitors condemned Guardiola’s side to a fifth straight defeat in all competitions, the worst run of his long managerial career, when Dominic Solanke played provider for Pedro Porro to thump the third into the net on 52 minutes from a majestic counter-attacking move.

One player does not make a team, but you can probably make a case for Rodri at Manchester City. The outstanding Spain midfielder is recovering from a serious knee injury, but was given a huge ovation before kick-off as he showed off his 2024 Ballon d’Or award for being voted the world’s best player to the home fans.

It is City’s heaviest defeat since a 5-1 demolition by Arsenal at Maine Road in 2003.
